easeInElastic

It starts slowly and ends fast. It rings around its start, then jumps to the end.

easeInElastic reaches 50% of its travel at 96% of the time and 90% at 99%. Its peak speed is 15.39x the average. It dips 37.31% below the start value first.

A cubic-bezier() has two control points and makes one smooth S. easeInElastic changes direction 7 times, so no four numbers draw it. Use the linear() string above.

When to use it, and when to avoid it

Use it for

  • A charge-up before a release, shown on one element.

Avoid it for

  • Entrances and exits that must read cleanly: the element swings before it moves.

The closest of the nine vawe After Effects eases is carry, an RMS gap of 0.3964 in progress. After Effects and vawe set the shape with two handles, so it can be tuned where a named curve cannot.
