Make a video from code
Three ways to render a video from code, and the commands to turn one HTML page into an mp4 with vawe.
You want a video from code: HTML to video, programmatic video, or motion graphics that an AI coding agent writes. There are three common ways to get it.
| way | how the frames are made | what to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Record a headless browser in real time | the browser plays the page and a recorder films it | frames drop when the machine is busy, so two renders differ |
| Write React components for a video renderer | the renderer sets a frame number and draws the component | you write React and use its animation helpers |
| Write one HTML page and seek it | the renderer sets the time, takes a picture, moves to the next time | the page must not read the clock |
Vawe is the third way. The page is plain HTML, CSS, Web Animations, SVG, canvas or three.js. There is no private format. A virtual clock owns Date, requestAnimationFrame, timers and Math.random, so the same page gives the same frames in any order.
Render your first video
git clone https://github.com/Vandit1604/vawe.git
cd vawe
npm install
bin/vawe doctor
bin/vawe new hello --request "a 6 second title sting for a note-taking app"
bin/vawe dev films/hello/page.htmlThe last command writes a draft mp4 to out/. Edit films/hello/page.html and run it again. bin/vawe ship films/hello/page.html renders the final file.
Use it with a coding agent
The repository ships agent skills in skills/. Start with html-to-video: it routes to vawe-brief, vawe-page, vawe-critique, vawe-reference and vawe-transitions. See HTML to MP4 with Claude Code for a full run, and the page for the contract.
